OUR PORTFOLIO
HOW WE SERVE
The Nu Chapter serves the Michigan band programs, such as the Michigan Marching Band, Campus Bands, and University Band. In addition, our Musical Outreach Program looks to promote and inspire music throughout Ann Arbor at local schools and hospitals.

Within our organization, the Nu Chapter holds many brotherhood activities throughout the year to forge friendships between members and create lasting college memories and experiences. From stand-alone retreats to short games during business meetings, we provide a sense of community for our brothers both within the chapter and beyond.
Past Investments

Development Mondays are workshops that help strengthen the leadership skills of those in the chapter and the band members at Michigan. They are planned and put on by the Continuing Membership Education Committee, and aim to develop different areas of leadership such as team-building, goal-setting, inclusivity, and much more. Examples of Development Mondays in the past have been resume workshops, goal-setting sessions, inclusivity discussions, and hearing from distinguished guest speakers.

KKPsi jointly with TBS organizes an Open Mic Night for participants of campus ensembles to perform in front of their peers. There's full rock bands, comedy, flag performances, instrumental music, skits, and more!

Brothers of Nu help organize the Michigan Marching Band's annual banquet, which honors the work and performances of members and staff over the season.

Our brother-operated sales cart provides fans with Michigan Marching Band gear!

This committee is tasked with building bridges between KKPsi and the ensembles we serve, including Campus and University Bands as well as the Michigan Winter Ensemble. Ensemble Relations helps advertise for upcoming performances, organize receptions in conjunction with the alumni band, and create social events and activities within these ensembles to provide a better experience.

Brothers of Nu organize an early morning "Breakfast Club" on game days to support members of the Michigan Marching Band, providing cheap bagels and coffee.

Kappa Kappa Psi organizes and distributes apples during football games to members of the Michigan Marching Band.

Brotherhood retreats are held once per semester, and are a time for brothers to come together and bond through fun activities that promote fraternity cohesiveness and team-building. Previous events have included food progressives or activities night at the rehearsal hall.

When the visiting team's marching band comes to the Big House, Kappa Kappa Psi hosts them post-game in Revelli Hall for donuts and a video review of the day's marching performances.

MOP's goal is to expand the reach of the art of music to members of our community. This is accomplished through events such as "instrument petting zoos", where members of Nu and Lambda teach children at local elementary schools and hospitals how to play instruments and march.

Each fall and winter semester, brothers of KKPsi volunteer their time and travel to Lincoln High School and Middle School to assist the music programs. Activities include running sectionals, sitting-in with students during rehearsals, and administrative work.

Incoming students can audition for the Michigan Marching Band at the end of their Orientation over the course of the summer. Brothers of Nu help run these auditions, escorting prospective students to Revelli Hall and touring the facilities.

Every fall, brothers help to move incoming Marching Band freshman into their dorms, and participate in a dorm walk during Band Week after rehearsals to ensure everyone gets home safely.

Brothers take part in caroling in the winter as a way to spread smiles and music during the holiday season.

Whiffleball on the Diag at midnight has become another traditional brotherhood activity, and is a great way to relieve some finals week stress with brothers.

Mock Rock is an annual dance/skit show put on by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to raise money for charity (usually for Mott Children's Hospital or the local YMCA). Members of KKPsi and TBS have led the Michigan Bands in performing a dance/skit for the past several years to support the community!

Nu is proud to support Michigan concert bands through commissioning music for college bands. In Fall 2017, Nu and Lambda collaborated to join a consortium to commission a new piece by the renowned composer Jennifer Jolley. Michigan Bands will have access to this composition in Fall 2018.
